2011 KASH Eagles Soccer

The team photo for the KASH Eagles soccer team was taken at the same venue as last year.  It is one of the more photogenic areas we play.  The nearby shade trees make for a very challenging photo event.

Below you will find a gallery featuring the players in action. Click on an image to enlarge it.

Several have asked if they can purchase an image. They are available in digital only at $15 per jpeg or 3 images for $35.

Mouse over an image to see its jpeg reference number if you are interested in ordering a high resolution image.

Enjoy the images !

BUMP !

Flo mentioned to me that she was trying to find a “BUMP” sign so she and Zachary could take a picture. I told her I drive right by one almost every day, so we took them both there, and this is the result. Actually, Flo has put a lot more time into the making of this photo than I did !

Campout Buck Saw

At a recent camp out, a friend of mine, Robert Jones of handsewnleather.com  , made a buck saw from wood scraps he found in the woods.

The blade is a small cable resembling very fine barbed wire.  He stretched the cutting cable between the ends of two wood handles separated by a mortise and tenon spreader which was hand carved from a small maple branch.  The adjustable tension was provided by parachute cord twisted around the ends of the handles opposite the blade.

Below is a close up of the mortise and tenon.

That’s all there is to see of this saw………….  Tom

One of the things we are know for is our attempts at large group shots at weddings.  This can be a daunting task, especially if the church has nearly wrap around seating or high dark ceilings.  Both were the case at Katie and Peter’s wedding. Usually I use a very wide angle lens of high quality, set the radio controlled studio flashes to high, and poof, we end up with an excellent group shot.  In this case, I needed to make two separate exposures and stitch them together.  The wide angle perspective issues were so pronounced that I could not use my automatic stitching program and had to stitch the two images together in Photoshop by hand.

Here is the result:

On my browser, you can click on the image, and then you can zoom and pan to get a great look at everyone.

KASH Lady Eagles Basketball Team

We had the privilege of taking the team photo for the KASH  Lady Eagles.  Some of the girls also enjoyed posing for individual photos as well. We will be posting some of those as soon as we get approval on an individual basis.

The guys elementary team also had their team photo taken, but remember, girls first. Check back later for the guys. I will post it after I finish editing it   ……  Tom Dinkledine

KASH Soccer 2010 Slideshow

I shot the action as well as the team photos for the KASH Eagles this year.

For some reason, this year the team wanted to be called the Yellow Zebras. So for all you die hard fans out there, you will be able to relive the season while viewing either the short or long version of the slide show found by clicking below.

For those who have already been here once, you will note that I moved the slide show from this post to a link found below.

It appears there is interest in people purchasing the slide show on a CD on an individual basis. The idea is that one would want to know if they were getting a CD before they donate.  This is a reasonable request, so I am investigating slide show options on CD.  I will contact team families by email as well as posts here when the details are available. After that,  a slide show will be made available on CD on a cost per each basis. Stay tuned.

Individual high resolution jpeg files will be available for $15 for images that are of sufficient quality to enlarge beyond an 8×10 and $8 for those that are suitable only for enlargements. smaller than 8×10.  Email us for further details.

For a shorter version of the slide show click here.

I recommend the short version since it is ordered so everyone appears once at the beginning of the slide show.

For a long version of the slide show click here.

Enjoy the slide show.

Walking With The Mailman

Walking With The Mailman is a book by Austin Brown recalling some of his experiences as a mail carrier for the USPS.  What is so special about it, and why is it featured here?  It is my first book cover!

Hopefully, more book covers will follow.

Austin wanted a book cover that grabs your attention, and this certainly does the trick.  It makes me wonder how big the dog really is, and where is the postman now?

If laughter is the best medicine, then this book should improve your health.

If the cover shot creates any addition interest in the book’s content, it will have served its purpose.  I wish Austin well in his first published book.

For those of you who are interested in knowing more about Austin and his new book, click here.

Have a great week,  Tom  Dinkledine

Basket Case

I had the privilege of photographing Austin and his family, but the real reason for this particular shoot was to get a shot of the newest addition to the family. She definitely is a cute one, and in addition to the normal shots, I wanted an image that would show some character.  I had a basket that my son had made for 4H, and I wondered if she would like sitting in it. She really enjoyed it as you can see.

I like to get the interaction between  a mother and her child, so I thought this would capture that moment.

Here is one that shows the wonder in a young child’s world.

I can’t get by without at least one traditional shot.

Here are the proud big brothers to complete the set.

The rest of the family rounds out the photo session.

Austin will also be showing up in a future post, so stay tuned……………  Tom

Where’s Waldo?

I recently shot a wedding where I shot a single image of the people in attendance from the front of the church. It was shot on a Canon 5Dmk2 with a 16-35mm lens. The sanctuary was lit with 4 strobes fired by radio trigger. The result was even better than I had imagined. I know the image is not properly sized for this blog, and you have to pan around the image, but I wanted to give you the full effect.

On my browser, you can repeatedly hit ctrl+ and then pan around.  You have my permission to  copy it and enlarge it on your own use for the purpose of checking resolution.

Have fun finding “Waldo”  or anyone else of interest…………………  Tom

SCA Graduation

On May 20, 2010 the graduating class of Sycamore Covenant Academy had their graduation ceremony.

They were encourage  by Kevin Hynes, the chaplain for the University of Georgia football team,  not to fear situations that would have them following God’s word.

After the ceremony they posed for the typical class photo, except it was nine students, the largest class so far at SCA.

Of course, the students at Sycamore can seldom have a celebration without eating.  Everyone enjoyed several cakes and snacks, but one cake no one had the heart to cut. Jerri Faris had made an awesome cake with the photos of all the graduates jumping.

The original photo from which all the individual craft stick photos were taken is found below. I took this photo on the steps of the Sycamore Reformed Presbyterian Church as a part of their senior class photo.

May the SCA class of 2010 not fear as they step up to the challenges awaiting them.
